He’s a bad-ass fighter right from the start. As it happens, his high opinion of his skills is justified. Cloud is wonderful – an ex-member of Shinra’s military elite who’s become a mercenary hired by the rebels, he’s a bit of a cocky loner with a high opinion of himself, who says he’s just in it for the money. So that’s where we were headed last night when I finally packed it in and went to sleep.ĭespite knowing what happens to these characters in a large, general way due to all that I read about this game as I became more and more fascinated by it this summer, I am quite enjoying the way the game is introducing them even as it plants the seeds of plotlines to come. But the store clerk told us that her father, the dressmaker, being a habitual drunk, was down at the bar. But she got him to agree that Tifa was more important than his self-image, so we went off to the dress shop. Aerith suggested that Cloud disguise himself in a dress in order to sneak in to the boss’s HQ, however, being the manly ex-Shinra Soldier that he is, he was quite cool to the idea. (It’s science articles this week because Science News was the magazine waiting on top of the unread magazine stack.) However, as you wisely foretold, this week during the evenings when I’d normally be posting, I’ve been quite preoccupied instead with attempting to blow up Mako Reactors so as to keep the planet’s lifestream from being sucked dry by the Shinra Power Corporation.Įxcept that we’ve (Cloud and Aerith and I) recently had to put that effort aside in order save our fellow rebel (or terrorist, as Shinra would certainly call her), Tifa, from a slum boss who plans to either take her as his bride or put her to work in one of his bordellos. They cross-fertilize in my head and spawn odd and entertaining speculations which I want to share. Doc, I’ve had every intention of posting about my morning science article readings.
